With over 1,200 sq. ft. to work with, our clients decided that installing LVP (luxury vinyl plank) flooring throughout would not only create a warm and inviting space, but would also be easy to maintain and keep clean. This particular floor, Evoke Vigor looks like wood flooring, but proves virtually impervious to water and other spills, making it an ideal choice for a basement installation. Gatherings large and small are considerably more enjoyable when you’re not worried about spills on the carpet.

The linear fireplace, an electric 55″ Simplifire Scion, stands as a sophisticated focal point, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling stacked stone in a neutral tone. The stone wraps a few feet around the wall into the play area, lending continuity to the space. Flanking the other side of the fireplace, a beautifully stained shelf runs the length of the wall to support A/V equipment and anchor the television.

The warm walnut tones of the TV shelf are echoed in a nearby barn door and in built-in shelving at and near the wet bar. In contrast, painted wet bar cabinetry in slate blue strikes a pleasing note against the stained wood and juxtaposed with neutral walls painted in Sherwin Williams Colonnade Gray.

Perhaps our favorite feature of this stunning basement finish lies behind the office door. Making the bold choice to paint the office walls Sherwin Williams Raucous Orange, our clients created a room that serves as a design accessory in and of itself. By placing orange accents throughout the rest of the basement in rugs, candles, and pillows, the entire basement reads collectively as belonging together. (Bonus:  you’ll always have the most interesting background in your Zoom meetings).
