What would you do with an additional 2,500 square feet of finished living space in your home? Our clients, fortunate to find themselves in a home with an unfinished walk-out basement of over 3,000 sq. ft., decided to expand their living area in both practical and posh ways.

Starting with the sweeping expanse of EVP flooring at the base of the stairs which flows throughout the common areas of the basement, your eye is drawn to the large, open game area. Light from both recessed can lighting and from the walk-out slider bathe the space in a cheerful glow and reflects pleasantly off of the walls, which are painted in Sherwin Williams SW-7016 Mindful Gray.

The cozy entertainment area anchored by a linear gas fireplace and large-screen TV (both mounted on a stacked-stone feature wall) invites relaxation and camaraderie. A closet to the left of the fireplace discretely hides the sump pump, while another nearby closet with built-in shelving stands ready to hold games and blankets.

On the opposite side of the family room, a spacious workout area situated with plenty of ventilation and space to move, makes exercise both pleasant and easily accessible.

The hallway off of the workout area leads to an office with a barn door entrance, two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a large, unfinished storage room.

Double sinks and a tub/shower combo make this an ideal bathroom for sharing.

Vertical tile liner accents and extra-large tile blocks make sure this basement bathroom won’t go unnoticed!

Custom barn doors provided by the homeowner create a beautiful Colorado style statement at the entry to the office.

Also included in this project, a large theater room off of the rec room/game area waits to be outfitted with cushy recliners, which—at the time these photos were taken—were not yet installed. Another unseen feature, the insulation upgrades added by our clients throughout this basement ensure comfortable living for all.
